Mozilla Firefox 1.0 is set to be released tomorrow (November 9th). With plenty of news lately about Internet Explorer fading but still commanding lead in the browser market, Firefox 1.0 has a chance to be the beginning of the the end of the “Browser Wars” forever. As in a victory for web standards and web users, not a victory for proprietary closed monopolies.
This is a battle for a web were you don’t have to use Browser X to view a page. A web where a properly written web site is light in code, fast in speed, and viewable both for those in the past, present, and future.
I have heard of goals for 10% of the web to use Firefox in the near future. 100% of my family is a good start don’t you think? Mozilla-based products have been used by my parents, brothers, and even some grandparents for the past year. If they can switch, you can to.
